Welcoming our first client, PetWarehouse, a pet store & grooming chain in Bangalore, was a unique experience, both thrilling and challenging.
For context, I work with the sales and partnerships department in Happy Pet Tech, a pet technology firm that is developing intelligent, holistic pet business management software for the pet business sector. Be it a boarding management tool, grooming software, pet shop inventory software, or veterinary clinic systems, we keep our goals easy, i.e., helping pet businesses to run everything ranging from bookings to communication and invoicing, all in one integrated software.
Our initial tool to go live was Happy Grooming, a pet grooming business management software designed to make everyday operations easier for pet grooming businesses. We knew we had to get real world feedback from an operational business in order to refine and enhance our tool. That's when we met Manjunath Reddy and Kruti Reddy, the Founders of PetWarehouse. They were in expansion mode, planning to open several stores and seeking technology to automate their operations. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
They committed to using our software and assisting us in testing and refining it. Although this was a big win, the real effort began after that. It's not easy implementing tech in a business that is based on pen, paper, and people. Operational change is difficult, particularly. Their team wasn't too tech-friendly, so acclimating them to our cloud-based software required patience, dedication, and much on-ground handholding.
This is where our core team stepped in big time. Venkat & Sneha were the product leads who had put in crazy hours to build the tool. Subsequently, Mohan and Varun came on board to implement new features and focus on usability. We were all-in as a team. Each day, one member from our team would be present at the store, training personnel, answering questions, and ensuring the transition went smoothly.
Soon, the staff began noticing how functionalities such as automated WhatsApp notifications, appointment reminders, and simple customer data tracking saved time and increased efficiency. Even the store managers began going out for lunch with our team, sharing stories about tech usage and biryani. Following the successful onboarding of the first store, PetWarehouse rapidly scaled to four stores in just two months. We handled in-person and online training for every store, and remained available 24/7 to assist them.
The introduction of the mobile app further simplified life for Manju and Kruti. With multi-role permissions and dashboards, they were able to delegate tasks to store managers, yet remain in touch with business performance. Now, they concentrate on growth while the operations hum along in the background.
The payoff? Amazing. With Happy Grooming on the scene, client retention increased, and customers were now getting a top-shelf experience, from appointment reminders and customized reminders to reviews, e-invoices, and data collection per pet. Even groomers who were loath to utilize phones now efficiently handle their appointments with our mobile app.
And when they required a feature, we didn't wait. Our team would take an idea and launch it in a week, which made the partnership even more productive and fulfilling.
Today, PetWarehouse handles more than 30 appointments a day with four locations. Our path together has been unique, full of learning, laughter, and some serious growth.
